Reykjavik, Iceland. Former Prime Minister Campbell and many of her fellow Council of Women World Leader members, including Former Iceland President Vigdis Finnbogadottir, attended the 2017 Women Political Leaders Conference. In addition to being honored along with the CWWL members, Ms. Campbell spoke on the panel, "A Woman's Place is in Politics." The other panelists were as follows.

Victoria Forum

Victoria, Canada. “On Canada's 150th anniversary, the University of Victoria and Global Affairs Canada have joined forces to organize the inaugural Victoria Forum under the theme of Canada@150: Promoting Diversity & Inclusion."

Ms. Campbell participated in the opening plenary panel discussion along with other panelists: Assembly of First Nations National Chief Perry Bellegarde, Ms. Roberta Jamieson, Right Honourable Paul Martin
And the panel was moderatored by Ms. Anna Maria Tremonti.

Library and Archives Canada Signature Series

Vancouver, Canada. Library and Archives Canada (LAC) hosted a lively conversation with the former Prime Minister of Canada, the Right Honourable Kim Campbell. The event marked the official opening of LAC’s new public service point inside the Central Branch of Vancouver Public Library.

Hosted by Guy Berthiaume, Librarian and Archivist of Canada, the Signatures Series features original interviews with individuals who have donated their archives to LAC.

Supreme Court of Canada Symposium: Looking to the Future

Ottawa, Canada. Rt Hon Kim Campbell participated in the Supreme Court of Canada Symposium: Looking to the Future. She spoke during the session titled, "The Supreme Court, the Executive and Parliament", which was moderated by Professor Carissima Mathen, and the other speaker was Hon Bob Rae.


Celebrating Women in Diplomacy at the French Embassy

Ottawa, Canada. "To recognize the first ever appointments of a female Ambassador from four of Canada’s six G-7 partners, the Carleton Initiative and the French Embassy to Canada co-hosted a panel and reception to celebrate women in diplomacy.

Welcome remarks by President Peter Stoicheff followed by an interview by U of S Chancellor Roy Romanow with former Prime Minister Kim Campbell about the role of women in Canadian politics. The 30-minute interview [was] followed by a Q&A and discussion with the audience."

Court Ladies' Dinner Worshipful Company of Barbers

July 5, 2017


London, United Kingdom. Former Prime Minister Campbell was invited to address the Court Ladies' Dinner of the Worshipful Company of Barbers and Surgeons. The Worshipful Company of Barbers is one of the 110 livery companies of the City of London. It is also one of the oldest, having celebrated its 700th anniversary in 2008 and is ranked 17th in the order of precedence. The Court of the company would be equivilent to a Board of Directors.

House of Lords: Canada 150

The Lord Speaker, Lord Fowler welcomed Minister Wilson-Raybould and former Prime Minister Campbell to the House of Lords where they spoke about Canada's 150th Anniversary of Confederation. Following their remarks, they participated in a panel discussion with the Lord Speaker and Lord Howell of Guildford, chair of the House of Lords International Relations Committee.

Canada 150 Senate Symposium

May 26, 2017


Ottawa, Canada. The Canadian Senate convened a symposium during which experts on the state of Canada took "stock of where the 150-year-old country has come from and where it’s going". Ms. Campbell spoke during the session titled, "Gender Equality: A Reachable, Important Objective". The other expert that spoke during that session was Ms. Monique F. Leroux, President of the International Co-operative Alliance and former CEO of Fédération des caisses Desjardins du Québec (2008-16).

On March 8, 2017, International Women's Day, Former Prime Minister Kim Campbell delivered the keynote speech to Equal Voice's Daughters of the Vote, an historic event which brought young women from every province to fill all the seats in the House of Commons. Following Ms. Campbell's speech, the delegates made brief empassioned speeches about the issues that concern them.

Golden Key International Honour Society National Summit

Edmonton, Canada. Ms. Campbell delivered a keynote address to the Golden Key International Honour Society National Summit: Inspiring Tomorrow's Leaders.

This year’s annual Golden Key Canadian Regional Summit (CANCON) brought together students, alumni, university faculty, and prominent figures from across Canada to participate in an event that highlighted the Golden Key Pillars of Academics, Leadership, and Service. Co-hosted by the University of Alberta and MacEwan University Chapters, CANCON 2017 was Friday, February 17th to Sunday, February 19st at The Westin hotel in downtown Edmonton.

The event connected Golden Key International Honour Society members from across the country, providing students and academic faculty the opportunity to learn from each other and become part of a vast network that encompasses the entirety of the country.


Education Society of Edmonton 90th Anniversary

Edmonton, Canada. The Education Society of Edmonton (ESE) welcomed Ms. Campbell to speak to them on the occasion of their 90th Anniversary Celebration. She spoke about leaderhip in the education sector, primarily K-12 education.

The ESE was founded in 1927 and has a 90 year history of providing leading educators in the capital region with a forum in which to share thoughts, explore research, debate, and test educational issues and ideas.  Our membership is comprised of representatives from the Public and Separate school systems, post-secondary educators, as well as officials from the ATA, government and other educational organizations.  Our meetings take place once a month at the University of Alberta Faculty Club and feature a dinner followed by a guest-speaker drawn from a broad cross-section of both the public and private sectors.
